Outlook blocks me sending and recieving exe's (and other dangerous files!)

From what I have read so far it doesn't seem possible to stop Outlook
from taking this (unreasonable) approach to filtering my email.
Is there way of turning it off so Outlook can still be used? (I have
installed it with Office XP).
