Outlook Cache and Anti-virus

Hi,

Is there any reason that the Outlook 2003 Cache Mode cache file ( i believe
this an .ost file) should be excluded from virus scanning by setting in one's
anti-virus software?

I have not found any official recommendation about this.

thanks.

I have no official recommendation, but I don't think it's necessary to
explicitly exclude it. While Outlook's running, the AV program won't be
able to scan it (since Outlook will have it locked) and when Outlook's
closed, it won't impact performance.

On the other hand, your Exchange server should have a server AV program on
it, so your PC shouldn't need to scan the Exchange data.
