Outlook Calendar data storage problem.

Hi,
I have a CEO and staff that have been using Outlook 2003 Calendar as a way
to archive files and information. This is not something that Information
Systems planed, but this something that her staff started.

For example, say they have a new VP hire, and they want to review what was
discussed, 2 years ago in a meeting, they use Outlook to review it. Also,
they are making changes to files and saving them, as email attachments, tied
to certain dates.

I just learned about this, because it seems that someone auto archived the
Calendar and data is missing.

I want to know, if Microsoft has some way to take this data, including the
email, and attachments, and dump them in some other searchable format, so I
can get them away from using Calendar in this format.

Journal would be better for this... but they need ot disable archiving on it
too.

Microsoft doesn't have a way, but there are various utilities that will save
outlook items and attachments in other formats, such as PDF or HTML,
otherwise you can use Outlook's advanced find or windows or google's desktop
search.

See http://www.slipstick.com/addins/housekeeping.asp for archiving tools
and http://www.slipstick.com/addins/search.asp for additional search
tools.
