After setting up outlook I could rec mails - I did not send so I do not know
if the problem was there then. In trying to import my Contact list from my
old PC I had some problems -- but was eventually successful. But I now have
3 sets of entries of "personal folders". In addition I do not seem able to
send a message - though I can rec messages.

How can I remove the extra sets of "personal folders" – they all appear to
be exact dups of each other. On a previous occasion trying to remove one I
removed them all!!

Also why can I not send messages?? Using “test Acct settings†in e-mail act
setup, there are no errors in processing. Also I can send a mail to myself.

Hi

with regards to removing the personal folders just right click on the one
that you want to remove and from the drop down menu click close personal
folder

And for your send recieve issue do get any error messeges when you send an
email to someone else .If yes please include that in the next post and also
try contacting your ISP because if you can recieve your own emails it clearly
means that outlook is working fine. You can also try creating a new outlook
profile by clicking on control panel in the start menu and clicking on the
mail icon and then selecting show profiles and click the add button.Once a
new profile has been created try setting up your email account and see if you
still face the same problem

Hope this helps
Bye

Hi Sreeni243

Thanks for your response

1) On the personal folders -- The action is grey'd out so "no-can-do"

2) Since posting the problem I have done a number of tests
Eg Set my other email acct up (with different SMTP server) on the new PC --
works fine
Set up my new e-mail acct up (with using the new SMTP server SMTP server)on
my old PC -- works fine

The message I get using the orginal settings is

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject:
Sent: 20/09/2005 20:13

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

Eric Twigg ([email protected]) on 20/09/2005 20:13
None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient.

This is the same message whether it is a reply or new mail to a variety of
mail addresses.

Confused -- I am !!!!!!!!!!!!

Any help you can give will be gratefully received

You have a corrupt profile as a result of improperly migrating your previous
Outlook data file to your new installation.

The easiest method to correct this is to create a new mail profile and
configure it to use your preferred outlook.pst file. Rename the .pst file
to be used to yournameoutlook.pst for easy location. Do this during the
setup of your new profile from Control Panel->Mail Icon->Profiles->New.

Hi Milli

I have tried to follow your advice.
I renamed outlook.pst to et-outlook.pst
I created a new profile Outlook1 using Control Panel->Mail
Icon->Profiles->New.

which created a new outlook.pst
as part of the process I created a new mail acct.
Unfortunately I still have the same problem.

What else
ANy help gratefully received

Take out the ( - ) from your .pst file and then try to reuse it in your new
profile. There is a step during configuration where you can specify which
..pst file to use.
