Outlook checking messages when closed

On most of my office computers Outlook will wait to download messages until
it is opened. On one of mine it seems to be getting messages while offline.
When I open it the emails are already there rather then downloading them
after I open Outlook. This is screwing up my blackberry. What can I do to
keep outlook from downloading emails while its closed. FYI I already have the
keep a copy of the email on my server box checked.

something is keeping outlook from closing properly and its still running in
tasks manager, processes tab. See
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/close.asp for ideas on what can cause it.
