Outlook client - 2 mailboxes in different AD Forests

R

Robert A

Using Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007, can a user access a delegate mailbox, if
the delegate is in a different Active Directory forest/domain?

Due to reorganization in the company, Administrative Assistant is in domain
A1 but the Executive is now in domain B2.

A1 and B2 are in different forests. There is a cross-forest trust
available if that matters.

Is there some way that Admin Assistant can continue to be a delegate for the
Executive? Admin Assistant would like full access to the Executives
mailbox and calendar. Admin Assistant would like to keep the ability to
"Send As" on behalf of the Executive.

Hello,

Thank you for your post here.

From the description, I understand that you want a user in domain B to
access mailbox in domain A. If I am off base, please feel free to let me
know.

For this question, as there's trust established, you can follow the steps
below to achieve it. I assume that you want User1 to have delegate access
to User2. User2 resides in domain B2:

Step 1: Create Associated External Account
============================
1. Create a mailbox-enabled account in domain B2 and disable this new
account. We call this new account as User3.
2. On the View menu, click to select Advanced Features.
3. Right-click User3, and then click Properties.
4. Click the Security tab, and then click Add.
5. Change "From this location" to your trust domain, type in User1 and
click Ok.
6. In the User Properties dialog box, click User1, in the Permissions list,
click
to select the Allow check box next to the Send As permission.
7. Click the Exchange Advanced tab, and then click Mailbox Rights.
8. Click Add, change "From this location" to your trust domain, type in
User1 and click Ok
9. In the Permissions list, click to select the Allow check boxes next to
Read Permissions, Full Mailbox Access, and Associated External Account.
10. Click OK.

Step 2: Grant User3 delegate access
========================
1. Create an Outlook profile for User2, click Tools and click Options
2. Click the Delegate tab and click the Add button
3. Select User3 from the GAL and click Ok
4. Select the desired rights for each folder and click OK
5. Click Ok to quit the wizard

If anything unclear, please feel free to let me know.
