32KB seems like an arbitrary and small limitation for mail rule storage. This
limit has been in place since at least Outlook '97 and has yet to be updated
in Outlook 2003. As a user, I don't understand what is limiting me from
running as many client-side rules as I would like upon mail delivery.
Certainly there is reason for having a limit on the server side, but why am I
also limited on the client side? I should be able to run as many cpu
consuming rules as I would like.
Please also offer a UI for managing server side rules separately from client
side rules. I noted that in Office 2003, there is a separate check box for
"rule runs on this machine only" yet the rule seemingly counts against the
32KB storage limit on the servers copy of the rule. Error messages that are
more sophisticated then a single model dialog would also be greatly
appreciated
Microsoft can do better. Limiting the number of characters in the rule
really isn't an acceptable workaround.
