Outlook closes when I delete email messages, what's causing this?

About half the time when I delete an e-mail message in Outlook, the Outlook
window closes. It doesn't matter how I delete the messages, delete key, X
icon, drag & drop to deleted items folder, outlook closes. Any ideas?
