Outlook closes when I switch to my desktop

If I have Outlook open and switch to my desktop, Outlook automatically
closes. How can I stop Outlook from closing?

How did you switch to the Desktop? By minimizing Outlook?
Are you sure it didn't just minimize to the Notification Area then?
Look for the Outlook icon in the Notification Area, right click it and
deselect the "Hide when minimized" option.
Or simply double click on it to restore Outlook.

I have a "Show Desktop" icon in the bottom left notification area - that is
where I click to show the desktop (or even if I right click in the bottom
toolbar area) when Outlook is active. It closes automatically when I click
to "show the desktop." Outlook can be full screen or minimized and will
disappear when I choose to show the desktop either way. I would prefer it to
only minimize to the bottom toolbar area, not the notification area. Does
this information help? Thanks for your help!

Did you verify the setting of the option I referred to?
Which version of Outlook are we talking about here?
When you click the "Show Desktop" icon, does the outlook.exe process
continue to run in Task Manager tab Processes?

I am using Outlook 2007. The Outlook icon was not visible in the taskbar, so
I was able to determine how to get it to show up in the taskbar and then I
was able to see the "hide when minimize" option. I think it is working now.
Thanks for your help!
