Outlook Connector - Sound Notification Setup

A

Angel

I just downloaded the Outlook Connector today and is working great!
All with exception to the "New Mail Alert" setup.
I read that it will notify to the default account only - so fine (rather it
be for all accounts but....).
I've also confirmed my Windows Vista Sound settings, and all is well there;
but when receiving a new message I get nothing. Not even the lil' envelope
in the Icon Tray (which I've also set to display).
So, any help for me out there, or is this just another lil' "quirk" we have
to wait a fix for?

Thanks in advance.)

You need to set the Hotmail account's message store as the default delivery
location. Setting it as the default mail account is irrelevant.

Roady, wonder if you can help. I found this article if fixed my outlook
account but, it won't let me change the default on my wifes account.

If the configuration is the same as the OP, then I'd suspect that your
wife's account is setup via the standard HTTP account instead of via the
Outlook connector. Install the latest version and you should be able to set
it as the default delivery location.

I am having the same issue, but I only have Outlook Connector at this time.
How do I set the default delivery location with only this one account? In
Outlook 2007's Help file, it says:

Turn on alerts
On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail
Options.
Under When new items arrive in my Inbox, select the Display a New Mail
Desktop Alert (default Inbox only) check box.

If you click the Data Files tab, can you choose the Live Mail account as the
default there? I'm not sure you'll get desktop alerts even then, but give it
a go.

I was able to change the default Data Files folder to the Live account.
However, this did not enable Desktop Alerts for that account. Any other
thoughts?

I suspect, then, that the Outlook Connector transport doesn't allow desktop
alerts.

This article has also helped me. I now have audio and visual alert for my
hotmail messages. However all my mails are coming into Outlook Connector
account even the ones that should go to my Outlook mail account. How do i get
them going to the respective intended e-mail accounts.

I started receiving desktop alerts from my Live account. I'm not sure how,
though. However, all of my calendar items are now being sent to my Live
calendar instead of Outlook.

It seems very strange to me that Live Mail, a free, lightweight email
program, has more customizability than premium software.

Depends on your version of Outlook and I don't see where you mention that.
With Outlook 2003 and earlier, you'd have to use a rule (and I think rules
work for Connector folders that are set as delivery location). For Outlook
2007, you can choose the Inbox for the incoming messages oin a per-account
basis.
