Outlook Connector - Version Differences.

However my version is 12.0.4518
There's also a page for version 12.1 Beta 2.

The only difference I can see from the latter is "offering free calendar
synchronization"'.
MS seems to be tight on telling anything else.

What are the differences / changes in 12.1 beta 2?

I'm especially concerned about the inability of ver.12.0 to compact OST files.

Adding Calendar support is indeed the main change. There are some other
changes and bug fixes in the way emails are collected and which domain names
are supported as usual. Most often they release the new version with a
change log.

Same reply as I gave you a few days earlier;

When you delete items from the pst- or ost-file
you leave "white-space" in the database file so the file is not directly
truncated. When more than 5% of the total file size is white space, Outlook
will automatically begin truncating the file when the computer is idle (both
processor and disk). For ost-files created by the Outlook Connector there is
no way to truncate it directly.

So there is no inability; just no manual option.

Is it worth doing an upgrade just for the 'bug fixes', even though I don't
need the calendar or contacts features?

Because I have sometimes encountered a lost password prompt even though it
should be already saved.

That issue is more likely to be caused by having a virus scanner integrated
with Outlook. It messes up your send/receive process resulting in a password
prompt or duplicates. You can safely disable it. See

In your case I would wait for the final version to be released. With BETA
releases you could replace one bug for another ;-)
