outlook connector

I am trying to connect my hotmail account to outlook. I have set up my email
account in outlook but when outlook trys to connect to the account, it gives
me an error message "we were unable to sign in to your account"

My computer is hooked to the internet using a wireless card through a router
and I have verified account name, password, internet connection.

It seems as if, Outlook is not recognizing the internet connection.

What other things need to be reviewed???

Depends on the version of Outlook but which you did not mention. The
Outlook Connector add-on only works with versions 2003 and 2007 of
Outlook. Is that what you have?

I have outlook 2007

Did you define an HTTP account (for Hotmail)? Or did you define the
Hotmail account under the control of the add-on? You need to create an
HTTP/Deltasync account, not the old HTTP/DAV account. DAV is the old
scripting language used as a protocol to communicate with Microsoft's
HTTP mail server. It's getting replaced with Deltasync.

The Outlook Connector is to only add Deltasync support so it has only
one purpose: to support Windows Live Hotmail accounts. The "Tools ->
Email Accounts" wizard is normally used to define POP, IMAP, HTTP/DAV,
and Exchange accounts, not HTTP/Deltasync accounts. Read the article at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officelive/FX102473521033.aspx under
the "Use Microsoft Office Outlook to manage your e-mail" section. That
dialog is NOT under the "Tools -> Email Accounts" wizard. You use the
add-on to define the account, not the old wizard in Outlook. As I
recall, the routes to creating an account the control of this add-on
are:
- Tools -> Email Accounts, add a new account but under OTHER accounts.
- "Outlook Connector -> Add a new account" menu navigation.

Thank you for the below information. I deleted the hotmail account and then
went in to add the account as noted below using the office connector "add a
new account" option. I have received the same results of not being able to
sign in to the account. I can get into the account via the internet but
still not through outlook.

Any other suggestions?????

Are you using the V12.0 Connector or the recent 12.1 beta Connector?
Reports have been posted that while the 12.0 Connector has been failing of
late, the 12.1 version works.

I unloaded connector and then reload the 12.1 beta. The connector version is
now v 12.0.6237.1003. I deleted and reloaded the hotmail account with the
same results as previous that it could not sign in to the account.

Any other thoughts????

Under what version of Windows are you running Outlook 2007?

Did you try a new mail profile?
