Outlook contact file?

Sorry if this isn't right place to ask but after synchronizing my Windows
Mobile phone via ActiveSync with MS Outlook on my desktop machine what's the
file name and location that all of the contact information gets stored in on
my pc?...is it some type of .pst file that I can simply copy/paste to
another drive location? Thanks in advance.

It's the same as it always was. Syncing doesn't create a new PST file or
change its location.

Cool, thanks Just a quick one, I'm not too fond of ActiveSync in
general and was wondering on recommendations as alternatives? I notice
"PPCPIMBackup" sofware was mentioned a bit on the web and was wondering if
this was a good reliable one or any others?

Good question, but not one you'll likely find answered in an Outlook group.
Syncing is not an Outlook operation, so you'd be better off posting this in
one of the ActiveSync or Windows Mobile groups. Don't worry. Even though
Microsoft hosts these public newsgroups, to their credit they do not monitor
or censor their contents, so you'll get honest opinions from other end users
of other sync software. Heaven knows we certainly beat Outlook up around
here, and they haven't kicked any of us out of the groups so far. They may
not want you for an MVP, but they don't kick you out.

Chapura used to make a Windows Mobile sync tool, but they've abandoned the
Windows Mobile platform. Except for ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device
Center, I don't know of many Windows Mobile sync tools that will handle the
entire range of Windows Mobile features (calendar, contacts, tasks, notes,
e-mail). Google Apps has a calendar sync tool. Laplink has PDAsync
(http://www.laplink.com/pdasync/) . Some mobile devices come with sync
software tailored for the device.
