OUTLOOK CONTACTS AND ADDRESS BOOK-OUTLOOK 2003

Cathe

I recently upgraded to Windows XP and Office 2003. I didn't save my address book and contacts (didn't know I had to) before upgrading. Is there anyway I can find them and restore them if I didn't back them up? Please someone HELP!!!!!

All your Outlook data will still be on your hard drive as long as you didn't
reformat. Search for and open all *.pst files and open each in Outlook until
you find your data.
You will need to search for hidden files to find them.

First you need to identify all the .pst files on your HD...
To accomplish that you rus a search:
1. Start --> Search --> for Files & Folders --> All Files & Folders.
In first (top) field type *.pst
In the 3rd field (Look in:) make sure Locak hard drive (C:) i
selected.
Go lower... for "Type of File" make sure "Search Hidden Files
Folders" is checked

Once you find all those .pst files, open Outlook and click on File --
Open --> Outlook Data Files...
Open all the .pst files as you located earlier until you find th
desired one...

HTH..

I searched for the *.pst file like you told me to. I see "archive" dated 8/3/2003 and also a folder dated 1/31/04 (the date we installed the upgrades). When I click on each folder to open the files it askes me to choose a program. I don't see Outlook at all in the list. What now?

No, it's your turn to be specific, since your latest message hasn't a clue
of what this thread is about. The newsgroup interface you are using
apparently does not quote earlier messages in the thread, making your latest
message so short on detail that you risk not getting the answer you're
looking for. Please take the time to quote the original message.

I located the pst file and then went to Outlook and clicked on "data file". The file that pops up is not the file I found when I searched. What do I do now?

To see all of a .pst file's folders, you should then click on the Folder

What precisely are you clicking on? You need to expand the folders in the
Folder List.
