But what did it do? Did it create a new Contacts subfolder under your
default folder? If so, simply copy the contents of the subfolder back into
the main folder.

I went into one of the categories and right clicked it. That brought up a
list of choices one of which was "move to folder". I clicked that and it
gave the choice of, among others, "contacts" under the "folders list". When
I clicked that it went under the "contacts' folder and I can't get it back
