Outlook continuously retrieves the same messages from the POP3 ser

Hi all, Please could somebody help me with this. I have always used Outlook
Express but have now just switched over to Outlook 2003. After I did the
initial setup, Outlook imported all of my emails and contacts etc over from
OE and then went on to drag all of my emails stored on the POP3 server. I
didn't realise that this would happen and ended up spending about an hour and
a half deleting all the ones I didn't want on my computer. After doing all of
that I closed Outlook but when I opened it up again, to my horror it dragged
them all back off the server again!! I actually want to keep all of my
messages on the POP3 server but I don't want Outlook to keep dragging them
all back. This has never happened to me in all my years of using Outlook
Express and I don't know how to sort it out. Could someone give me a hand
please

Outlook's normal behavior, if configured to leave messages on the server, to
keep track of what has been downloaded and what hasn't. The behavior you
describe indicates that Outlook isn't remembering properly. This can be
caused by Outlook not completing the send/receive cycle properly or it can be
caused by a damaged profile. This may help:

Hi Brian, Many thanks for the link to that website and I've now sorted the
problem out. My ZoneAlarm firewall was the cause of it so I set it to trust
Outlook and hey presto! - no more duplicated emails ) Thanks again

Oh well! I spoke too soon! All the emails are back in Outlook again so I'm
afraid it's back to the drawing board. It's probably something to do with
this 'profiles' thing but I really don't understand all that stuff.
