outlook could not log on

hello
i have a laptop
os winxp
ram 512
hd 60GB


i install office 2003

everything works perfect exept outlook

when i try to open outlook the program
apears a message
"
outlook could not log on gheck to meke sure you are connected to nerwork....
the connecion with exchenge server is unvailable..
"

the lap top in not a workstation..

i unistall the office and i install it again the same messagge appears

what can i do ??

i have to format the laptop??
