Outlook crashed by Carbonite

I recently downloaded and installed Carbonite to back up files to the
internet. Unfortunately, it failed to backup Outlook.pst and caused Outlook
2003 to perform slowly (Typing was slowed--prolonged time before letters
showed on screen after typing). So I uninstalled Carbonite. Now all my
programs seem to perform normally (including Outlook Express) except Outlook
which is markedly slowed and eventually locks, and in time crashes with a
message of fatal error. When I approve to report the problem to Microsoft,
the report fails and a window informs me: "In order to report this problem
you must connect to the Internet. Please start your connection before
continuing." My DSL connection is active and works with Internet Explorer,
Firefox and Outlook Express.

How can I correct this? I tried Windows Restore and that failed. I have an
HP Pavilion. 1 GB RAM, Windows XP, SP2.

You've run an OL Detect/Repair?
You cannot backup a pst whilst OL is running, attempting to do so may
corrupt the pst.
FWIW I use IBackup, another on line backup app, I had problems with this
after I installed a spyware app, even though the spyware app wasnt running.

BTW, How do you like IBackup?
