Hmm, now I am really confused. Maybe I misunderstood the question. How
is
using a pst file not recommended? Are users not supposed to be able to
archive mail to a pst file? If it is not recommended, then why is it
available as an option for keeping mailbox store sizes down? The user
logs
in to her mailbox which is stored on the exchange server. She also has
archive folders/pst's available under her inbox.
I dont think the issue resides with a particular DL or with that users
profile. The reason I say this is if a user logs on to the machine and
has
never logged on to that machine before and sets up their mail profile, the
issue still appears. This happens when choosing the Address List icon on
the
main Outlook screen. When you attempt to choose the address list to pick
a
contact from, no matter which one, Outlook crashes.

That's certainly not a recommended configuration. Your answer tell us
nothing. Obviously where the DL resides is in play here. I'm starting to
see
why you are having problems.

I guess the answer would be both. This user has an exchange mailbox but
she
also has a PST connected to that profile.
:
Data store = the repository for your Outlook information. Correct
answers
would include an Exchange mailbox or a PST file.

I am not sure what you mean about the data store.
We created a new profile with a new name. Also, I logged on to the
machine
(which i had not logged into before) created a new profile for me
and
the
same issue happened.
:
Which data store are you using?
When you created a new profile, did you do so from scratch and with
a
unique
Profile name?

Thanks for the reply Russ. I saw your answer on a previous post
and
we
tried
those steps. Sadly they did not work.
:
This is a very common problem which Microsoft claims they cannot
reproduce
and therefore cannot solve. Anecdotal reports claim the
following
may
help:
1. Look for and correct a corrupt address in the Contacts
displayed
in
the
Outlook Address Book (especially if the crash at the same place
when
scrolling).
2. Remove then re-add the Outlook Address Book Service or,
better
yet,
create a new Outlook profile.
3. Update your video drivers.
Most people seem to find no solution.

Outlook 2003 running on Windows XP
Issue: User clicks on Address Book icon. Address Book window
opens.
She
then clicks the down arrow on the "Show Names From the:"
dropdown.
She
sees
all the lists but as soon as she click on any particular one,
Outlook
crashes. No errors on the screen or in the logs. This
happens
to
any
user
logged on to the machine, not just her.
We have recreated profile, reinstalled Outlook, and updated
drivers.
Any
help would be great! thanks!
