Outlook crashing when receiving mail--prob indigestible spam..

R

RickH

Ran diagnostics and Repair, nothing found.
On Vista Ultimate.
POP3 servers for 3 mailboxes.
I suspect it might be a specific type of email msg, probably a spam, because
it downloads a few msgs, then bombs.
I'm seeing other similar threads in this forum using Exchander servers, so
it looks like a malformed header or body content is somehow crashing
Outlook....

I was using OneCare, but it kept crashing, so I uninstalled it. Not running
any virus software until I get the MS tech to look at the OneCare issue.

I'm behind a hardware router/firewall, so I'm fairly secure.

I disabled all the add-ins that I had running, plus a few that were
installed by default.
All mail that I check is from POP3 servers running different server
software. Problem happens with all accounts. I diasable all but one at a
time, problem still happened.

Only Outlook 2007 seems to be have the problem.
After Outlook crashes, I start it up again, and it downloads the same set of
messages, then crashes when it reaches the same one each time.

Trying to identify that one now, and see if its the same on the other
mailboxes on the other servers.

Works in safe mode.
Hmm, it must be SpamBully.
I'll file a bug with them.
I've got 5 spam msgs attached to an email, one or more of them cause the
crash.
Dam, SpamBully is the besst anti-spam program that I've ever used. Been
working fine for many months.

Try SpamBayes instead. It takes time to train but I have been using it
successfully for many years and it works flawlessly. Available from
SourceForge.net - open source and free to use.
