Outlook Declined meeting conflict date format

We are running exchnage 2007 sp1 and when a resource mailbox declines and
emails the conflict the date format is incorrect.

All regional settings are set to english australia and works fine for all
stuff except this

The correct date is displayed if you use OWA to make the calendar appointment

The incorrect date occurs on Outlook 2003 SP2 and Outlook 2007 Sp1

Does anyone have any ideas i have copied an example of the incorrect date
format below. It should be in the form dd/mm/yyyy not mm/dd/yyyy



Your request was declined because there are conflicts.

The conflicts are:

Organizer and Time of Conflicting Meeting
- 6/2/2008 3:00:00 PM to 6/2/2008 4:00:00 PM

All times listed are in the following time zone: (GMT+10:00) Time Zone

Hi,

If the situation only occurs on the specific user's computer, it should be related to the regional settings. Follow the steps below to check it.

1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options.
2. In the Regional Options tab, in the field of 'Short date', is it shown dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy?
3. Click the Customize button.
4. In the Date tab, in the field of 'short date format', type in d/m/yyyy. Click OK, OK.
5. Restart Outlook. Create a meeting request to the resource mailbox which will email back the conflict. And check the issue again. What is
the result?

Hi,

When you view the emails in the Inbox folder in Outlook 2007, what is the format of the 'Received" date,
dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy?

Do you mean that one user receives the declined meeting message incorrectly, or the issue occurs with the
resouce mailbox which will always send out incorrect date format declined meeting messages?

Take a screen shot of the regional settings box and the outlook window which shows the declined meeting
message. Send the screen shots to me at (e-mail address removed) for further research.

How to take a screen shot, please follow the steps below:

a. When screen shows up, press the Print Screen key (right of F12 key) Note: nothing will happen.
b. Open MS Paint program (click Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > Paint).
c. Click Edit (menu) -> Paste or press Ctrl + V.
d. Click File (menu) -> Save. Save it as a *.jpg file and send it to me as an attachment.

HI Emily

I have attached a document with the screen shots done from Outlook 2007 SP1 same problem with Outlook 2003 SP2

I believe it is a problem with the client as if I log onto my email via owa make an appointment with a conflict the date format come back correct.

Most users run Office 2003 SP2 and Windows XP SP2.

I have also tested with other logins and email accounts and they have the same problem.

Based on my research, this is a known issue in Exchange 2007 server. It behaves not as it once did in Exchange 2003. A function in Exchange
2007, gets the preferred culture which is En-Us instead of En-Au. It then uses this culture to translate the read receipt message and format the
date.

This known issue was supposed to have been fixed in Exchange 2007 SP1 update. Have your Exchange 2007 server updated to the latest
version? Please install the Exchange 2007 SP1 update and then test the issue.

Hi Daniel,

As the issue occurs on all the Outlook clients, and the declined/accepted meeting email message was generated/sent by the exchange server,
the issue should be on the Exchange 2007 server. There is not such a setting in Outlook or on the client system can affect part of the text in
the message context.

Outlook connects to the exchange server based on MAPI-connection which is different with the OWA connection. Maybe this is why OWA works
and the date format in Outlook is incorrect.

I understand that you have installed the update rollup 1 for Exchange server 2007 SP1. Has the Update Rollup 6 for Exchange Server 2007
installed?

If not, go to the following webpage to download and install it.

After installing the update, it should change the default MM/DD/YYYY to long date format <day>, <month> <date>, <year>, however the date
format within exchange is still en-us, rather than the local regional setting (ie. en-au). This known issue may be fixed in the next release of
Exchange server.

Yes, you are right. I am sorry for the mistake. The update rollup 6 is for Exchange 2007 server which should have been included in the Exchange
2007 SP1 update. The latest update rollup is Update rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1. For more information about this update
rollup, you can refer to the following article.

I am afraid that we are unable to change this date format from outlook client. If possible, are you able to add some texts in the
declined/accepted email message to mention that the date format is month/date/year? Or are you able to configure the exchange server to set
the date format as <long date format> in the email message? If so, we can workaround the issue.

I was still having this issue....so found the resolution in case others are still looking for it too.

Here is an extract of the solution to set the format to English(Australian)....



"So, to resolve the problem, we need to let the sender to send the message EN-AU locale, i.e. "PR_Message_Locale_ID" has the value 3081 (0xc09 in HEX). To do so, we can add the following registry entry.

Dear All

I have a similar issue with one of the resource mailbox. When any user books a meeting on Mondays in a particular time frame(10AM-11AM), they get the below error.

Your request was declined because there are conflicts.
The conflicts are:

Organizer and Time of Conflicting Meeting
XXXXXXXX - 4/11/2011 10:30:00 AM to 4/11/2011 11:00:00 AM

But if you check the user's(XXXXXX) calendar as well as the resource mailbox calendar ,no Meeting scheduled in that time.

I had tried running Cleanfreebusy in both User's mailbox as well the resource mailbox but no luck.

Issue Background: Initially User XXXXX had scheduled a recurring meeting to happen on Last Monday of Every Month b/w 10Am to 11AM. But the resource mailbox did not allow other users to book on other Mondays too. To narrow down the issue, i had asked the user to delete that meeting series & there is no meeting scheduled by that user XXXX in the resource mailbox now.

Any help will be much appreciated.
