Hi all,
We're still in the process of our server upgrade and now we're
upgrading to FOUR servers! Argh. Anyway, our Exchange and SBS2003 SP2
Standard are still in a transition state where the Outlook 2003
clients are using exchange as the storage locale for incoming email
but we're still using POP3 email from the ISP. Incoming email is fine.
Outgoing is becoming a problem though.
Sometimes Outlook tries to send as (e-mail address removed) (not a real
domain as we don't have one yet, it's in process) instead of the
user's default of (e-mail address removed). It is NOT because the first
account defaults to the exchange server for sending - as I've said,
the default is the (e-mail address removed) account.
My best guess is that the timeout in Outlook 2003 (set as 1 minute) is
sometimes insufficient to get a response from the ISP's SMTP server.
In these cases, it either tries to send via our Exchange server (not
configured for SMTP).
The other possibility is that it tries to send through our Exchange
server AND THEN reverts to the ISP's SMTP server while using the
exchange account ([email protected]) instead of the ISP account
([email protected]).
Is there any way I can get it to ALWAYS retry with the ISP's SMTP
server and ONLY the ISP's SMTP server??
TIA,
Ari
