Outlook dialer problem-Handset Attached to Modem

When I use Outlook to autodial, my US Robotics 56K Voice Fax Modem speaker
activates and dials the number, but I cannot hear anything through the
telephone connected to the modem. This also happens when I use Cardscan to
autodial. It does not happen when I use PhoneDial Pro. With that program as
soon as I pick up the telephone handset, the speaker cuts off and I can
utilize the telephone to listen and speak to the person I call. How do I
change the settings to transfer control to the handset.

Outlook uses the standard Windows dialer, which has no provision for
handling voice modems.
