Outlook Dialer

When I use the dialer utility in my address book do I need
to enter phone numbers in the address book with a "1" in
front of each one, or is there a global setting to insert
the "1" for all numbers when dialing?

I don't believe that this works.

According to Outlook 2000 Help "Microsoft Outlook
will not use any outside line access number designated in
the Dial Properties dialog box".

Instead Help suggests that "when an access number must be
dialed to connect to an outside line (for example, when
calling from within a company), enter the outside line
access number before the telephone number in the telephone
number entry box".

This suggestion only works if you always dial from one
location - it does not work if you dial from multiple
locations (e.g. home and work).

Can anyone explain why Outlook 2000 behaves like this, and
is there a better workaround than the one proposed in Help?

Not an Outlook issue. Outlook only invokes the Windows dialer. You'll need
to ask in one of the OS groups.
