Is there a maximum number of contacts you can add to a
distribution list?

It is between 50 and 70 depending on how much data you
have for each contact. The more data you have the less
you can have. THis also assumes that you have installed
Outlook with the corporate on workgroup option. KB
article 238569 describes it more.
