Outlook does not display time zones correctly.

When I send/receive a meeting invite accross time zones, Outlook does not
properly report the UTC time difference.

For example, I recently received a new time proposal for a meeting. The new
time proposal comes across as "Wednesday, September 24, 2008 10:30 AM-11:00
AM (GMT-07:00) Mountain Time (US & Canada)"; but 2008-09-24 is Daylight
Savings time in the US and Canada; and 10:30 AM Mountain Time should equate
to (GMT-06:00) not GMT-7 hours.

Is there a fix for this?

Is the time zone and DST setting correct on both computers? It sounds like
the sending system is not correct.

DST setting is correct on both computers (I think).

If I go into the Date/Time settings on the computer, it has the correct time
zone checked and it also has the Automatically adjust clock for daylight
savings changes checked.

But here is an issue: According to the Date and Time Properties window
(Time Zone tab): The time zone is indicating "(GMT-06:00) Central Time (US &
Canada)" which is what is being passed through to the Outlook calander. It
doesn't adjust the GMT-06:00 for daylight savings time. The computer adjusts
it's time, but it reports the incorrect GMT difference. This causes
confusion for clients who are not familiar with the daylight savings time
rules and are relying on the GMT difference.

If the recipient uses outlook or an application that understands time zones
and DST (most calendars do), it will place the appointment on the correct
time for your zone and take into consideration DST.

The time zone display name is just plain text - you can edit it in the
registry and remove the offset from the view completely. Time zone data is
stored at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones
