Outlook does not work after Service pack 3.

I updated office xp with the service pack 3. Now outlook does not work. It
can not find the servers on any of my email accounts. Everything worked fine
prior to installing the patch. What changed took place with Outlook to make
it not find the servers? This is my work PC, and I need to get outlook
operational.

Thank you in advance.

Have you asked your System Admin at work? Have you tried removing and
reinstalling your accoun settings?

I take care of the PC's in our office. No other computers are having this
problem, and it only started on mine after I installed the update.
I did reset up my main email account, and it didnt help.

Hey "Knave", I'm in the same boat, except I'm the ONLY employee.
Suggestions to "contact the corporate IT person" are a real help, aren't
they?

I'm using Outlook 2002, and can receive, but not send, after installing this
"critical update". My ISP is Earthlink, and their tech support says that
there is a known problem with SP3 and Earthlink. They suggest contacting
Microsoft and have them instruct me on how to remove SP3.

If I treated my customers the way Microsoft does, I'd be bust in six
months........

I feel that this must be a glitch with the service pack. I can not send or
receive. I get the same error with both actions. Are you (baltobernie)
getting the same error?

If you get any help on removing this turd, then let me know. I have not seen
anything online that instructs how to remove it.

I have an OEM version of Office XP, and my vendor says that I need to call
Microsoft and pay them. I dont see that as a option. At least I am able to
retrieve my email via the web for now.

Well, here's the latest ...

I've got to completely remove Office XP from my system, then re-install,
according to Microsoft. This may or may not solve the probem, of course,
because many remnants are not deleted or reversed upon program deletion. So
I'll back up my documents, reformat the hard drive and reinstall all of my
software ... about 4 hours of work. Don't you just love these guys ???

Any chance you're using Norton Internet Security or another firewall program?
I had the same problem. Turned out all I needed to do was to log into
Norton as a Supervisor, access Outlook, do a send and receive, and let Norton
automatically configure the permissions for Outlook. Evidently Norton did
not see the SP1 version of Outlook as the same program it had already created
rules for. Don't know if this helps, but it worked for me.
