Outlook doesn't recognise MSN Messenger

I've just installed MSN Messenger v 6 and was hoping I could take advantage
of the feature in Outlook XP that allows me to see whether my contacts are
online.

However, when I go to Tools->Options->Other, although I can check the box
that says 'Enable Instant Messaging', when I click on the 'options' box, it
asks me if I want to install messenger.

I don't see the 'yellow infobar' that the help file talks about on contacts
either.

Outlook Express does show all my contacts, so Messenger is definitely
installed OK

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.
