Connection Status does not appear in the file menu on my version of
outlook.
Why would I care if it doesn't transmit if I'm working offline?
As I said, the same as millions of others - POP/SMTP

Excellent. You answered neither of my questions. Do you need help
understanding more basic issues?
Mail account is the type of email server you are using. We can't guess
that.
You must tell us.
Connection status is specified in your File Menu.

Clarify: mail account type - the same as a couple hundred million

I have Outlook set up send / receive automatically when exiting and
send
immediately when connected. More often than not, my outbox will
still
have
messages in it the next time I run Outlook. When I click on the
Send/Receive
button, the message gets sent. I connect thru a DSL at home and have
MSO2003.
