Outlook doesn't send receive after standby mode

I have a Dell laptop that is plugged into a docking station, after the
PC has gone into standby mode outlook 2007 doesn't send and recieve e-
mail after resuming from standby. Network shares, printers and
internet all function normally, just outlook doesn't work. Doing an
ipconfig /renew seems to fix the problem.

Anyone have any suggestions...?

On the mail server side I get a
winsock error 10054 which seems to imply that the PC was the one that
terminated the connection.
