I recently purchased a new computer and attempted to
install Outlook 2000 on it. Although Outlook Express
works fine, I cannot configure Outlook 2000 (which I
prefer) to automatically check my email. I have to
manually select "send/receive" on the Outlook toolbar to
check for mail. This brings up a dialog box where I have
to enter my shawmail (ISP) ID and password. Once this is
done, it connects to the server and delivers my email.
However, I get ANOTHER dialog box with an error message
which says the following:
"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. You
need to enter a password. (Account: 'shawmail'. POP3
server: 'shawmail.wp.shawcable.net' Error number
Ox800ccc92. Strangely, Shaw.ca's website addresses this
very error message at
http://support/emailnews/error2k.htm
However, doing as they instruct does nothing to rectify
my problem. Can anyone help me? I like Outlook a lot
more than Outlook Express, but can't get it to work
properly.
Thanks.
