0x80040119' i went to each account in Tool/E-mail Accouts and ran Test
Account Settings and everything worked fine including sending test e-mail

Close Outlook. Locate scanpst.exe using file/folder search. Double-click it
and follow the instructions, one of which will instruct you to browse to your
PST file so that it can run a repair. Make sure you know the name of your PST
file (the default is usually outlook.pst unless it has been renamed at any
point). Let the scan and repairs complete, then do it again. Repeat until the
scan finds no further errors. Then open Outlook and test.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to post back. Also,
please let me know how you make out.

Thank you Kathleen, but as I mentioned in the original post i had already
done multiple runs of scanpst.exe on my pst file but I went ahead at your
suggestion and ran it several more times (no errors detected) and re-opened
outlook clicked send receive and got same results

Disable the AV integration with Outlook, either by removing the Add In or
disabling the service or even uninstalling/reinstalling (but don't configure
the integration with Outlook). When AV actively scans incoming and outgoing
email, it's known to interfere with send/receive.

You can also try creating a new profile for Outlook to use:

Please post back with your results.

i use trend micro and it does automated updates occaisionally - - I haven't
made any changes to the firewall

Are you using the Windows Firewall or do you have a third party firewall?
Also, check your services to see if there's an email scanning service portion
of your AV. If there is, disable it and see if that helps.

Had no e-mail scanning that i could find. Had Trend Micro firewall on - - -
tried send receive with firewall off - - - same result- -

I did notice that there seems to be no computation time - - or attempt to go
to the server to check anything - - the send receive box opens and
instantantly the errors appear

That error normally indicates a corrupt profile. Check any other Add Ins that
may be integrated with Outlook. Also, check your Application Event Viewer for
any Office or Outlook-related errors.
