What is the procedure for adding background music to MS
Office 2000 Outlook e-mails?

Please don't do this! It is annoying and completely unnecessary. If you
insist, use Outlook Express as it is better crafted for this type of
nonsense.

It's for use between friends who enjoy having music
attached. Can I switch between Outlook and Outlook Express
for different e-mails? We are happy with Outlook otherwise.

Yes, you can use Outlook Express for musical mails and Outlook for regular
mails. Just set up different accounts and only use one in each program.
