Outlook email and fax

Is there a way to get outlook to default to the email
address automatically if there is both an email address
and a fax number in a contact you are trying to email a
message to?

That depends on your Outlook version and the method by which you are
entering the address, neither of which you mentioned.

same question from me.
Using Outlook 2002 SP-2
entering adresses through typing

The e-mail adressbook has taken the fax adresses as well
form the contacts.
If I delete the faxnumber in the email adressbook, it
delets it also in the contact database.
And I don't want to send email to faxnumbers

So my real question is: how can I get an adressbook
without fax numbers, while I have contact lists with
faxnumbers

Thanks,
Jorrit

Actually, that's a different question.
The standard behavior for the Outlook Address book is to display all
electronic addresses (both fax and e-mail). That behavior cannot be changed.
The only way to prevent the display of fax numbers is to store them in a
different field or to disguise them (e.g., precede them with an alpha
character) so that Outlook won't recognize them as phone numbers.
There are also a number of utilities available that can do this for you
automatically. Some are listed here:
