I started experience exactly the same problem last night. The connector has
worked fine up to now. My computer is still connected to the Internet,
Outlook can still retrieve mail from a separate non-MSN POP-3 account. Every
time I try to sync via the Outlook Connector, I now get the message, "! Task
(e-mail address removed) - Sending and Recieving reported error (0x80040126); The
operation cannot be performed because the connection to the server is
offline."

Oh, and I can still send / receive on the same computer if I revert to using
the MSN Premium client.

What's going on here?

Having the same problem here, three days now =( If I access hotmail via the
web it shows that I have mail and I can access as normal. If I use outlook (
I have connector) the send/recieve appears to work but in fact it does not
recieve at all. I am getting no errors but it is in fact not working. Any
help?

keep reading other posts. It appears to be a Microsoft update that's causing
the issue but nobody has an answer yet.

I'm posting this same message in a few threads so the word gets out...read
below

I just got off the phone with Outlook Tech Support. Apparently the MSN
servers have been having some issues for the past couple of days. It only
affects certain accounts (but I did not understand why). Anyways, the long
and short of it is...You may be able to fix it right now or it may take an
additional 24 hours to resolve, she said it's hit and miss. In either case,
here is what Tech support said you need to do:
1. Remove your msn connector under add & remove programs in the control panel.
2. Staying in add or remove programs click on MSN and change/remove and
re-download the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector.
3. In outlook, remove your e-mail account and then re-add it.

On mine it did sink all my e-mails into outlook initially but still won't
receive any new e-mails. If it does not work we are supposed to try again in
24 hours. The upside (if there is one) is that they are aware of the issue!

Good luck to all.

Jason, Gilbert, Coffee, Riche,
Same problem- Outlook 2003, latest Outlook connector, and also an eariler
version on another computer. Only way to get mail thru is uninstall and
reinstall the accounts, but this only works once. . I've tried almost evey
angle and I've bee at it since 10-12 and no change. Do note that when
reestablishing an account do not select the " secured password
authentication "option. I've als uninstalled ofice 2003,uninstalled outlook
connector. there no errors, servers says connected. I do see the time out
and reconnected in the detailded server report. I'm prety sure its a software
glitch. I've found nada on the MS help web sites except the dont use "SPA"-
secured password... In the meantime I'll have to use the lovely MSN email
client, Cough cough.

Add my name to the list of users not able to access new MSN emails from MS
Outlook. Just started happening maybe Fri or yesterday - 10/13 or 10/14. Can
get new emails via MSN website - that lovely email client Johny mentioned
below - but nothing since 10/11 in Outlook.

Should we be waiting for a fix to be announced? Or, is there a fix on the MS
website? What's our next move?

I'm not sure what to do next. I've found nothing in three days of searching
help, Tech Support Fourm, other help pages, - there is nothing on MSN web
pages at all. How do we get a MS MVP help staff to look into this? Maybe
keep posting more seperate posts with the same subject.

Hi Pedro,

MVPs are not microsoft employees. We are volunteers who help out here
because we like learning new things and helping others. We post here when we
have time and have something to add to the discussion.
