Outlook Email Problem with attaching

Outlook keeps crashing on me when I try to insert something to an email as an
attachment. Today is my first experience with this since installing the last
critical updates. First it froze upon clicking on "Insert, File". Then I
downloaded the software updates after sending an error report. Then it
started to freeze up in the Browse menu to locate a file.

I have Microsoft Outlook 2002 SP3 on Windows XP.

Any ideas?

so far with a test email.
