Outlook,emails,contacts lost after trial Outlook 2007

On the un-install of Outlook 2007 trial I now have no Outlook. My previous
version is Outlook 2002 Student / Teacher. It goes back to prompting me for
the Outlook 2003 disc which I do not own, just 2002. I know the unicode /
non-unicode difference between the two changed with the later product. Other
posts say my files are not lost but I cannot find the .pst files nor the .msi
file requested to return to where I was. Other posts also say that they could
not return even with the purchase of the new Outlook 2007. I have tried
re-installing Outlook 2002 and still get the Outlook 2003 prompt for the
disc. Are all my years of contacts & emails lost? Please help as this was
supposed to be a simple trial, not a nightmare.

The trial lasts 30 days. You want to get back a year's worth of
e-mails. So where is the original .pst file from when you were
previously using OL2002?

Beats me. I did a file search for *.pst various times with "no results
found". I read somewhere they may not be visible? I surmized it was the
non-unicode / unicode difference. And yes, I save e-mails & contacts from
years back which are my main concerns. I would gladly sacrifice the trial
months emails to be where I was originally.

More likely the .pst file has the hidden file attribute enabled. Make
sure your file search includes hidden files.

C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
This is the default location for .pst files in Windows XP, Outlook 2002/3

Thank you to all as I have found & made extra copies of the .pst files. This
gave me the guts to remove any and all Outlook versions & updates & then
reinstall Outlook XP 2002 Student / Teacher. Although I feel I am close, I
still cannot get the new install to accept the older .pst file. I get an
error message saying "... not compatible with this version of the personal
folders information service. Please contact administrator." when I use the
Open choice. Should it not be compatible???

See if you can import from it...
I am using Office 2007, but I think the instructions are similar:
File, Import and export, import from another program or file, Personal
folder file (.pst), browse to the file, expand the file and choose which
folders, calendar, tasks, etc you want and where to put them, then Finish.

If you aren't sure how this will work, create a new .pst file and import
into that first and see what you get.

If you see that message, it means you have a Unicode PST created by Outlook
2007 and you cannot use that format of PST in Outlook 2002. You will need
access to an OL 2003/2007 system in order to convert it to the ANSI format
used by OL 2002.

Brians' suggestion was followed and I got my e-mails and address book back
-finally! However I feel my trust in Microsoft Trial software is now fully
jaded having to resort to such efforts just to get my data back, no matter
how many " I accept" buttons I clicked. Thanks for the help.
