Outlook error - 'The operation failed. An object could not be foun

I get this error: 'Andrew Zak Mail - Sending' reported error (0x8004010F) :
'The operation failed. An object could not be found.' during send/receive.
This is a new installation and the 'test account' works fine. This is with
earthlink, dial-up. Anyone else get this?

I got it to work. I did have to create a new profile using the instructions
from the MS knowledgebase. But, an 08/29/2004 post from the msce.ms website
gave me another clue (do a google on 'operation failed send and receive' or
'missing object in outlook'.
Use 'smtp.earthlink.net' and not 'smtpauth.earthlink.net' in the Outgoing
Mail Server and make sure the 'logon using SPA' box in the Internet Email
settings/outgoing server tab is NOT checked.

This is the first time I've ever had a problem with any xp-based software.
It's my opinion that earthlink makes it hard to work with Outlook on purpose.
The earthlink tech I worked with (using live chat) for 3 hours had no clue
about the problem.
