Outlook/Exchange and MAPI

Does anyone know why MAPI is no longer supported. I've created a VB.Net exe
that traverses a users mailbox into File/Folder format (HTML). I have one
version that uses CDO and MAPI and another that uses Outlook 11 objects.
I've read taht MAPI is not supported in .Net and I'm just wondering why.

I'm also interested if anyone has done anything similar to this. Is there a
new prefered way of doing this? What is it?

"MAPI" can mean many things. What does it mean to you? .NET does not have a
native class for Extended MAPI, if that's what you mean. There is a 3d party
..NET wrapper for it, though. See
