outlook exits with message to replace normal.dot

Just when things were working great, I get this message every time I exit
Outlook:
"The file normal.dot already exists. Do you want to replace the existing
file?"

I don't really care what Outlook does with the normal dot. I don't use word
other than with Outlook. I can't understand why the normal.dot would need to
be replaced. Earlier today I searched for "normal" and only one normal.dot
was found which I deleted, knowing that word will replace it, but the message
still comes.
