Outlook Express 2003 forced a Reconfigure; now old mail is gone

When I tried to access Outlook Express this morning, a configuration wizard
popped up and required me to configure the access to my comcast email
account. I have had/used this account for years; I don't know why today it
appeared to not be defined. Once I had redefined it, I am presented with a
'new' Outlook Express -- none of my previous mail/folders are shown.

I see several other threads about recovering these from an outlook.pst file
so I will try to do that. But none of these threads had the same cause --
I'm wondering if there is something different in this case and also what
would make this happen? Thanks!

Sorry... I am actually using Outlook 2003 and I did a search with windows
explorer of my whole c drive and didn't turn up any .pst files. I also made
all files unhidden.

Hi,
Thanks for your help. It occured to me based onyour questioning which of
the 2 products I'm using that maybe what my problem is was due to it
switching me from Outlook Express to Outlook 2003 as my default mail server.
And that was it! I found Outlook Express in my program files and when I
started it, there was my mail!! Not sure what caused it to not 'see' Outlook
Express as my default mail server yesterday morning but I'm all set now.
