rchristopher,
You should ask this question and others similar to this in the Outlook
Express newsgroups
But to answer your question. Your Sent Items folder may have been damaged.
So try the following.
1. Create a new folder in OE> and move all your messages out the Sent Items
folder. Then Close OE.
2. Do a search for Sent Items.dbx file on your PC, you will need to have the
option to search "Hidden Files" selected.
3. Delete the Sent Items.dbx file. Do this only after you have moved the
messages that you want out of the Sent Items folder in OE, and that you have
closed OE.
4. Restart OE, a new Sent Items.dbx file will be created.
5. Do Not Return the saved messages to the Sent Items folder. Keep them
where you have just placed them, maybe even creating more folders to
separate them by email addresses or subject matter.
6. On a regular basis move messages from the InBox, Sent Items, Deleted
Items. You should not archive or store allot of messages in those folders
for any length of time.
7. With XP SP2, an automatic compact feature was added. When compaction
begins, Do Not touch your computer, until it completes. If you don't there
is a chance of message loss or folder damage.

Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180 stopped saving copy of sent email in sent
folder. The option to save a copy of the sent message in the sent folder is
checked and used to work. It recently compressed my email folders. I don't
know whether that caused it or not.
