Every so often a file shows up on my desktop (I keep
deleting it) with a filename of "~" (just the tilde
character, no extension). I opened it up in Wordpad and
it contains a lot of unreadable junk characters
interspersed with regular text. When I connect the
scattered text, it turns out to contain all the info in
my Outlook Express address book.
This only started happening about two months ago. At the
time, I was running Windows 98 SE. A few days ago, I did
a clean install with Windows XP. I only have a few
things reloaded, but already the file is popping up again.
Anyone have thoughts as to where this thing is coming
from?
