Outlook Express Automatically Deleting Messages

For some reason - approx every 3 months - Outlook Express deletes all the
emails in my first three inbox folders. Without warning they just dissapear.
Is there a size limit I'm exceeding?
It doesn't delete messages in other inbox folders, and the Sent messages
remain, so I don't believe it is a date stamp issue (where after a certain
time it erases anything older than the current month).
How do I prevent this from happening?
Any help would be great!

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
