Outlook Express cant send mail with attachments

Tony Donato

I have a PC in my home which I am unable to send emails
with attachments in Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express 6.0. My ISP is Optimum
Online both at home and at the office. My cable modem is a Motorola Brand
both at home and at the office. My Router at home is a D-Link wireless and at
home is a Linksys wireless.

When I try to send an email from home with an attachment of any size, I get
a server timeout, waiting for a response from the SMTP server. My settings
for incoming and outgoing servers are correct. I ruled out any issue with the
router by connecting to the internet directly to the cable modem. I have no
problem sending emails without attachments. I brought the workstation to my
office and had no problem sending emails with attachments from there.

I brought my laptop home and had no problem sending emails with attachment s
from home on the laptop.

I have disabled the outgoing email scan feature on my Antivirus software
(Avast) and
have also completely disabled the program as well to rule out the antivirus
program.

Am I missing something? Could the NIC card have something to do with not
being able to send attachments from home but still be able to send
attachments from a different location?

I posted a less detailed version of this yesterday and got a couple of
responses with no follow up to my replies.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What happens if you increase your server timeout value? Look on the
Advanced tab of your account properties.

Perhaps we simply haven't had time. I, for one, have a real job to address
from time to time.

Brian,
I apologize if I seemed demanding or unappreciative in my email. That is not
what I intended. I understand that individuals like yourself are interested
in helping people with issues and not paid for this kind of thing.

I did try increasing the timeout setting but it did not correct the issue. I
am going to swap out the router and see if I get a favorable result.

Sometimes reducing the network MTU can help as well.
