Outlook Express deleted emails that will not delete

I am new at this site and I was hoping that someone might know the answer to
a problem. At least once a week I delete all the discarded emails in the
delete box by going to edit on the tool bar and deleting the contents. This
week I found a closed envelope with no ID bar and it will not delete. In
fact it would not allow me to delete the contents in one swipe, I had to
delete each one individually.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of this envelope?
Message displayed says encountered unexpected problem while displaying the

It shows! ;) This isn't a "site" (well, not for those of us using NNTP
clients to access the NNTP server. And this is a newsgroup, not a forum.

Also, this newsgroup is for people having trouble with MS Outlook. This is
not a convenient abbreviation for, "MS Outlook Express", but a totally
different program altogether. You really want to be in the MS Outlook
Express newsgroup:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general

If you are a truly dedicated web browser user:

I will cross post this to that group.

I have never encountered that problem, and haven't a suggestion for a
solution, alas.
