Outlook Express email

I didn't see a discussion forum specifically for Outlook Express, so I'll try
this one. I started Outlook Express and went through some of the set-up
dialogs it prompts you with when you first start it up. Ironically, I was
going to start using it to access the Microsoft Access Programming discussion
group because the performance on that site via theMicrosoft website is
sporadically horrible. Anyway, it ended up that I don't even need to use it
(I'm using AccessMonster instead), but in the meantime something I did while
going through those 'setup' panels is now causing all of my email to be sent
to Outlook Express instead of my earthlink email inbox! DO you know how I can
re-direct everything back to my 'real' email system? Any help is much
appreciated.

Delete the EarthLink email account - 'Tools|Accounts|Mail', select
EarthLink, click Remove.

All of my email looks to have been moved to the inbox of Outlook Express. If
I do this delete process, will it re-appear in earthlink? Right now my
earthlink inbox is empty, and all my messages are in Outlook Express.

I didn't see a discussion forum specifically for Outlook Express...

There are at least two. I am subscribed to:

microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

I see that you are using the Web for posting. You probably navigated the
Office tree, and not the Internet Explorer tree. Which would explain failing
to find an MSOE group. Try drilling down the Internet Explorer menus next
time.
...so I'll try this one. I started Outlook Express and went through some of

You must have also set up POP3 access in MSOE. The nature of POP3 access is
to download email from a POP3 server, then delete the email from the server.
Once POP3 email is stored locally in MSOE, there is no way to restore it to
the server intact. You can forward the email back to the account, but that
changes the headers; it will not be received intact.

If Earthlink offers IMAP access, you should be able to recreate the MSOE
access, using IMAP instead of POP3. That would allow the server to
synchronize with the client, and your email would be restored. But that is
something only Earthlink can provide. If they don't have IMAP access, you
are pretty much out of luck.

Of course not.

No, they will not re-appear. To get them back to EarthLink, you'll need to
forward them to yourself. Deleting the EarthLink account will NOT delete
any downloaded email. EarthLink did not offer IMAP service in the past; if
they now do, this article will help:

Guess I'll just forward them back. Seems like since it somehow moved
everything over from earthlink to Outlook Express that the opposite could be
done just as 'easily'.

When you eat, it's easy to put food into your stomach. You'd think that the
opposite (removing the food from your stomach) could be done just as easily.

Sorry, but some processes are not easily reversible. POP mail protocols are
one way, from server to client.
