Outlook Express gone crazy

All of a sudden, with no changes to the computer, no new applications, 99% of
the time when I send an email, whether it's new or a forward, it will not be
placed in the 'sent folder' although this is clearly checked to do so.
Further, the email 'appears' to stay in the 'out box' and will continue
sending each time Outlook checks for mail...but in reality the email was sent
the first time. I must manually remove the email from the 'out box' and if I
try to move it to the 'sent folder' it will not let me. Each time this
happens I get an error message box...but there's no error information within
the box.

Microsoft is really stupid to charge for email support for these types of
items since from my perspective this is clearly something wrong with Outlook
or Windows XP.
