Outlook Express - Main Identity's Contact folder

In Outlook Express, all entries go into the 'Main Identity's Contacts'
folder. If I move an entry into a sub folder, it still also remains
in the Main Identity's folder.
Is it possible to delete entries from this folder but still keep them
in a sub folder or to delete the Main Identity's folder
altogether and just keep sub folders for common groups?
