Outlook Express preview pane doesn't show attachments

Hello,
I have a problem with the preview pane of OE. Normally the
preview pane shows a paperclip-icon to inform the user
when a mail has an attachment.
Now this paperclip is vanished.
The entry for the mail in the mail folder still shows a
paperclip symbol and when I open the mail, all atachments
are available, but accessing an attachment via the preview
pane isn't possible any more.
I have search all setting for OE and the registry for an
option to enable/disable this effect, but haven't found
what I'm looking for ;-)
Is anyone familiar with this problem, can anyone give me a
hint?
